About Towing Capacity Check
Towing Capacity Check helps UK drivers and riders find out what their vehicle can tow, using nothing more than the number plate.
We're run by BEN SKY LIMITED, trading as BENSKY LTD. We're a UK company, registered in England and Wales under company number 08348493.
What we do
You enter a reg. We show you the basic details of the vehicle, then our team prepares a full report with the towing figures and more and emails it to you. That's it. No hunting through handbooks to start with, and no sign-up beyond an email address.
Where the figures come from
The basic vehicle details you see on screen come from a third-party vehicle data service, matched to the registration number you enter. The towing figures in your report are prepared by our team from vehicle specification data for your make, model and engine, then emailed to you. They're a guide, because your own vehicle's VIN plate and handbook are the final word.
What we're not
We're an independent service. We're not part of the DVLA, the DVSA, GOV.UK or any vehicle manufacturer. When we mention legal rules, we link to GOV.UK so you can read them for yourself.
We also don't give legal, safety or insurance advice. If you're not sure whether you can tow something, ask your insurer, a towing training provider, or the manufacturer.
Why we built it
Most people only think about towing capacity when they've got a caravan or trailer in mind, and by then they want a straight answer. We try to give one, with the caveats that matter and none of the waffle.
